Bond’s Grade 6 Students Made Chinese Lanterns

Spring Festival became an official holiday in Canada, and Bond’s Grade 6 students who were born in the Year of Rooster were invited to a special workshop on February 8th to celebrate 2017 Lunar New Year together.

During their lunch recess, students were placed in pairs to enjoy participating in the process of making Chinese lanterns in shape of rooster by hands. “This is my first time to get involved in the Chinese New Year celebration. I really enjoyed the arts and crafts. The rooster lanterns are very colourful and cute. ” said Puja, a Grade 6 student.

After the students finished making the lanterns, the Committee of the Toronto-Qinhuai Lantern Festival gave each one of them a Red Envelope as is the Chinese tradition. Students were so excited to find out from the tickets in the envelope which gift of handmade Qinhuai lantern in the shape of an airplane, monkey, or water lily they received.

May everyone have a great 2017 – the Year of Rooster!
