Bond Grade 10 Civics Class Visited Ontario Legislative Assembly

On November 16th, the Grade 10 Civics and Careers class embarked on a tour of the Ontario Legislative Assembly. The tour included a walkthrough of the building and museum exhibits, an interactive session in the Chamber gallery, and an election simulation designed to illustrate the issue of voter apathy.

  Bond in Pink
  October is Breast Cancer Month, and Oct. 28th was Dress for The Cause Day in Ontario. Bond Academy’s students and staff were encouraged to dress in pink and donate for this cause today.
  Annual University Visits
  During September to November, Bond invited the Admissions Representatives from around ten different universities to visit our campus to help students understand the admission requirements of Canadian and American universities.
  Happy Halloween at Bond
  October 31st is one of most favorite days for Bond’s students. It’s Halloween! This is how Bond celebrates Halloween every year. Take a look at our costumes at Bond: Superman, Spiderman, Batman, Supergirl, Cinderella, Mickey Mouse, Harry Potter, Egyptian Goddess, Captain America, witches, pretty angels… and so many more.
  Bond Joined U14 Flag Football Tournament
  On November 1st, Bond Academy, along with fourteen other schools, participated in the SSAF Open Elementary Flag Football Tournament. “Our team did a good job during today’s tournament.” said Royal Carney, Athletics Director at Bond, “We had a few new players from Grade 5 join the team this year. Even though it was their first time playing on the field, they did very well.”
  Bond Competed in the U20 Indoor Soccer Tournament
  On November 3rd, Bond’s U20 Soccer team went to the Toronto City Sports Centre to compete in the Under-20-year-old Indoor Soccer Tournament. “We have many new players on the team this year, and they have been improving since the beginning. ” said Mr. Vonk, the U20 Soccer Coach and a Secondary Teacher at Bond. “The team has come together as a good team because they support each other.”
  Bond’s Economics Class Attended Public Policy Think Tank
  On November 4th, the Grade 11 Economics class attended a conference hosted by the Fraser Institute, Canada’s leading public policy think tank. Held at the Delta East Hotel, the Conference was titled: Why Do People Behave the Way they Do? An Introduction to Economic Reasoning.
  Bond Grade 5 Filmmaking at TIFF
  On November 8th, the Grade 5 students at Bond Academy had a trip to downtown Toronto to enjoy a special learning experience at TIFF Bell Lightbox. The Grade 5 students participated in a workshop called “Film in a Day”. They wrote the scripts, pitched the ideas, and completed shooting a short film at TIFF.
  Bond Students Volunteered at the Daily Bread Food Bank
  On November 8th, 35 students from Grades 6 to 8, along with their teachers Ms. Chhabra, Ms. Billing and Ms. Ha, went to Toronto’s largest food bank, the Daily Bread Food Bank, where food is distributed to other food banks.
  Remembrance Day Ceremony at Bond
  On November 11th, the students and staff of Bond Academy and Bond International College attended the annual Remembrance Day ceremony, and showed our appreciation to the veterans and people who still serve for Canada.
  Awareness of Cyber Bullying and Information Sharing
  As the online community grows quickly nowadays, the rate of criminal behaviors grows along with it. The question of “How to protect our children from online danger?” becomes more challenging. On November 16th, a Toronto Police Officer came to Bond and gave a presentation to our Grade 6 to 8 classes.
  Bond’s Grade 2-5 Classes Took A Trip to the Evergreen Brick Works
  On November 17th, the Bond students from Grades 2 to 5 who were interested in eco education and helping Junior Council this year with their eco initiatives, were invited on a trip to Evergreen Brick Works in Toronto.
  Bond’s Grades 6-8 Experienced Media on the Street
  On November 25th, the Grades 6 to 8 students at Bond Academy took a special field trip with their teachers to downtown Toronto. They had an educational walking tour inside the CBC building as well as some streets in the neighborhood.
