Bond’s Basketball Team Wins the Championship

On February 21st and 22nd, two Bond Co-Ed Basketball Teams, comprised of students aged 12 and under, went to the Hoop Dome to play against other private schools in the SSAF U10 and U12 Co-Ed Basketball Tournaments. During the games, no matter when passing the ball or shooting the ball, every Bond player did their best and supported each other from the beginning to the end.

  Bond’s Grade 6 Students Made Chinese Lanterns
  Spring Festival became an official holiday in Canada, and Bond’s Grade 6 students who were born in the Year of Rooster were invited to a special workshop on February 8th to celebrate 2017 Lunar New Year together. During their lunch recess, students were placed in pairs to enjoy participating in the process of making Chinese lanterns in shape of rooster by hands.
  Bond Performed at Kiwanis Music Festival
  On February 14th, the Band competed with other schools at the Kiwanis Music Festival of Greater Toronto, held at Sir John A. Macdonald Collegiate Institute. “The students played well and had fun. We played two pieces of music. They were ‘the Nutcracker’ by Tchaicovsky and ‘It Don’t mean a thing if it ain't got that swing’ by Duke Ellington.” said Michael Allen, the Instrumental Music Teacher and the Conductor of the Concert Band.
  Fun Skating Day for Bond Elementary!
  On February 15th, Bond students from Grades 2 to 8 went to a local community centre for their annual skating day. Some students practiced their speed skating skills, while others went on the ice for the first time. A few Bond teachers went on the ice to coach the rookies how to skate. After the free skating, students were encouraged to have a short track race against each other based on their grades.
  Mad Science Class for Bond’s Grade 4 Students
  On February 16th, Bond’s Grade 4 students had a fun class to learn about minerals and rocks. They were placed into small groups to try some basic hands-on experiments. Some students used the magnify glasses to see the patens of the rocks, while others scratched different minerals against each other to feel the hardness.
  Bond’s Annual Ski Trip
  The annual ski trip took place at Dagmar Ski Resort on February 17th. With 80 participants, Bond hit the slopes on a beautiful and warm sunny day. Bond students first took part learning from the expert ski and snowboard instructors, with nearly all of our students passing the required tests so they could attempt larger and more difficult slopes.
  Bond’s U20 Indoor Soccer Team Competed in A Tournament
  On February 23rd, Bond’s Under-20-year-old Soccer Team went with their Coach to the Hangar Sport & Events Centre to compete in the Indoor Soccer Tournament. “I was glad to see the team come together to support each other, and have a few goals. The most rewarding experience is to see our players improve as a team.” said Mr. Vonk, the U20 Soccer Coach and an Art Teacher at Bond.
